Just finished a book called “The Source: The Untold Story of Father Yod, YaHoWa13, and the Source Family.”
It’s the story of a guy named Jim Baker, who’d robbed banks, fought in a war, killed some guys with his bare hands, ate some mushrooms, opened up an L.A. vegetarian restaurant, hung out with Yogi Bhajan, had a kundalini awakening, changed his name to Father Yod, started a mystery cult that wore robes and smoked “the Sacred Herb” every morning, lived in a mansion, had fourteen wives, started a band, recorded 65 records, and then died when he jumped off a cliff with a hang glider that crashed. Dude was rock n roll.
I’d recommend both of these–they’re like the cult that worked, for the most part. These folks were on a trip to freedom, no doubt. And I can get behind that. YaHoWaHo, to freedom!
